Insurance certificates

What evidence do you need for your boat?

Sometimes it is necessary for you as a boat owner to request various proofs. This applies, for example, if you:

  • Have a motorboat that requires a speedboat license
  • Located in a port that requires you to have liability insurance on your boat
  • Taking your boat abroad

Below you will find information about the individual certificates. All certificates can be requested by going to 'My profile' from the front page, logging in with your member number and postcode (password) and then clicking 'Documents'.

Statutory insurance certificate

If you have a high-speed vessel that requires a speedboat certificate, you must have statutory liability insurance. If you are stopped by the police, you must be able to prove that your liability insurance is valid, which you can do with a certificate of insurance from Danske Tursejlere. If you are unable to present a certificate of insurance to the police, you may be fined.

You can download the insurance certificate from your member profile. However, you can only access and download the insurance certificate if you have paid for your membership and liability insurance for the current year.

Are you unsure whether your boat requires a speedboat certificate and you are therefore subject to the statutory liability insurance requirement? Then you can use the formula here:

If (length x length) + 3 is less than engine power measured in kW (kW = HP x 0.74), your boat requires a speedboat certificate. You can also fill in the formula on this page

Receipt for liability insurance

Most ports require you to have liability insurance on your boat in order to moor in the harbor, regardless of boat type or size.

If your port requires you to have liability insurance, you can request a receipt for your membership and liability insurance via your member profile. If you have paid for the current year, Danske Tursejlere will issue a receipt and send it to you by email.

Blue proof

If you are sailing abroad, either on vacation or in connection with the sale of your boat, you may find that ports and other authorities will want to see proof that your boat is covered by liability insurance. The blue certificate is a receipt for your liability insurance in English, containing information about your insurance company (Søassurancen Danmark), policy number, boat type, hull number and engine number of your boat.

You may not need to show a Blue Card abroad, but we recommend that you always have it with you to avoid any problems during your trip.
